  • Opening Event: Ground Rules; Goals for the Meeting: Introductions by the organising partners of the Workshops planned; the outcomes (Schumacher Paper, personal action plans) and the WYC (by Christian and Olivier from Quebéc) and the GVP, [watching the trailer of “Silent Heroes” and video-clips of the Scotland-Congress]. Participant introduction games, party.

Monday 6.8.2007 – Getting started: information/motivation

09:00 - 12:30: Team-building (ice-breaking) exercises - Ropes Park; [swimming pool]

14:00 - 15:30: continuing the activities
16:00 - 19:30:  Review of the achievements of Youth-Led Development around the world: the evidence of past congresses; and introduction of the ‘European values’ that lie behind voluntarism and the concept of Youth-led Development
Presentations by African, Asian, Latin American, Canadian and European representatives to the YLD Technologies – the cultural obstacles to widespread replication;

Tuesday 7.8.2007 – visioning day/how should our future be?

09:30 - 12:30: Mentored Process Part 1: Why do we need YLD? What do we want to achieve? How to develop project ideas?

  • Faith in Europe and European citizenship

Optional Skills 2 Workshops (“informal” skills, led by participants); party in Hot; campfire, documentary films on YLD

Wednesday 8.8.2007 – framework for our projects

Thursday 9.8.2007 – Action Plan Day

09:00 Clan meetings
09:15 Plenary
09:30 – 12:30: Mentored Process Part 3: Preparing Individual Action Programmes for when they go home (draft proposal writing drawing on lessons learned from the meeting;)

Small groups discuss suites of similar and different project proposals – brainstorming how each one might be improved;  discussion of which offers ideas on what might be the most effective youth contribution to wider development goals; and partnerships are forged between delegates who may choose to submit joint projects;

14:00 – 15:30: parallel workshops led by young experts (PCI, UG, other partner organisations) – if wished some of Tuesdays or Wednesdays workshops can be repeated. Additionally:

  • Project Evaluation and reporting

                                                                

16:00 – 18.00: Plenary – small groups present their best project ideas – and why they think they are good.  Question and answer from the floor – leads to a final prioritisation of the projects.

Friday 10.8.2007 – Vienna

08:30: Departure for Vienna
10:30 – 13:00: Sightseeing bus tour through Vienna
Lunch: - at the Austrian National Agency

14:30 – 15:30: Meeting with Austrian politicians to discuss the merits of the new Youth in Action programme of DG-EAC;
Meeting with members of the Austrian government to discuss the merits of Youth-led Development and presenting the best projects developed out of the meeting;
Return to Mürzzuschlag

16.00 – 17.00: Reception at the UN at the Vienna International Centre

Saturday 11.8.2007 – Celebrating Friendship Day

Mürztal Day:  Celebrating the Open Air – and exploring the Mürztal district

  • Hike to Schneealm-mountain
  • Visit to Neuberg Abbey
  • Hike to Schotterteich (lake)
  • Visit to the Johannes Brahms or the FIS alpine skiing Museum

Dinner

Concert –Farewell concert organised by the youth of Mürzzuschlag at the House of Tolerance (Hot); the participants will present their experiences throughout the week to the youth of Mürzzuschlag
